On 26 October 2017 the Winelands Built Environment Professionals were introduced to new old kids on the block, Teva Windows. MD, Pieter Malherbe, has been making waves in energy efficiency in Gauteng for over a decade with his high-quality uPVC windows and doors and is a regular speaker at sustainability events.
“Gauteng is seeing fast growth in the construction industry and the commitment to sustainable building is getting stronger. We’re happy with our progress there. On my numerous trips to the Winelands, to sample your delicious wine, I’ve realized there’s an opportunity here for a new challenge,” says Pieter.
Winelands local, Gerhard Kriel, is Teva’s business development manager for the region and he introduced Pieter to the Winelands Built Environment Professionals Group. Teva was excited to partner with the group who are well known for regularly hosting fun, informative networking and education sessions that are a highlight of the industry calendar.
“I’ve been surprised at how few industry professionals are aware of uPVC, since it is the perfect window framing material for the South African climate. It’s an amazing insulator that reduces environmental impact, increases comfort in the home and lasts for decades with very little maintenance. The response to the product has been really positive and we look forward to more opportunities to discuss it with specifiers in the region,” says Gerhard.
Attendees were certainly impressed by the presentation and smiles abounded as they shared a few glasses of wine with the Teva team. The future is looking bright for sustainable design and construction in the Cape Winelands.
